Aldo De Poli is been born in Padova 24-2-1948. He has graduated in Architecture at IUAV (Istituto Universitario di Architettura in Venice) in 1974. He has achieved the DEA (Diplome d' Etudes Approfondies) at EHESS in Paris in 1984. From 1975 he has carried out for 16 years teaching and lecturer activity with prof. Aldo Rossi at IUAV, like researcher and scholar. For 8 years, he has carried out activities of research abroad as visiting professor, in Belgium and France, where, at E.A. Nantes, he has held the course "Projet urbain- Projet architectural". He has taught in Seminaries of Architectural Planning in 14th foreign universities. From 1992, as Associate professor, he was responsible of courses of Architectural Planning and Design and Theory and techniques of Architecture at Faculty of Architecture of University of Genova. From 1999 he has held, for vacation, courses at University of Parma, too. From 2005 he is Ordinary professor at Faculty of Architecture, University of Parma. He is the coordinator of the Ph.D. group in “Shapes and Structuresof Architecture” at University of Parma. In 1989 he has been a member of the International jury of the Europan Competition in Belgium. He has organized various conferences and International exhibitions. From 1994 he has been the Italian coordinator of a research with European grants on topics like Civil architecture in Europe. He is member ICOM and AAA-Italy. He has worked on major exhibitions including the Venice Biennale and the exhibition “Art & Architecture. 1900-2000”, organized during “Genoa, European Capital of Culture 2004”. Throughout papers and projects he has deepened theories of the planning in residential buildings, in public spaces (piazze, town-walls, waterfronts and ports) and in public buildings (universities, town halls, stations, schools, theatres, libraries, museums). He has collaborated with the reviews "Process Architecture", "Arc", "D'A", and with the web site "Archinfo". From 1996 he is the responsible for "Area" review of the pages for books and events, where are introduced works and written analysis of the main protagonists of the contemporary architecture. The same from 1999 for "Materia" review. He is consultant editor of architecture magazine "Area" and "Materia". He collaborated with the magazines "Process Architecture", "Arc", "D'A" and the web portal "Archinfo. Some of his publications: “Biblioteche Architettura 1995-2005” (ed. it. Federico Motta 2002, ed. Fr. Arles, Actes Sud, 2004); “Dalla casa-atelier al museo. La valorizzazione museografica dei luoghi dell’artista e del collezionista”, with Marco Piccinelli and Nicola Poggi. (Lybra Immagine, 2006). He is the curator of the “Enciclopedia dell’Architettura”, published in February 2008 in four volumes, Federico Motta Editore / Il Sole 24 ore editor.
