Lines of research

The research activity is aimed at studies of bacteriology, mycology, parasitology and virology. In particular, she is involved in the study of biological features and molecular biology in the bacteriological field (including both the analysis of the genome and the study of the biotype by mass spectrometric analysis Matrix assisted laser desorption / ionization time of flight, MALDI-TOF) of human intestinal spirochetes, of their interactions with other pathogenic intestinal bacteria and with the host, of leptospires, borrelias and treponemes and of the study of mycobacteria; in the mycological field, the application of MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry is applied to the identification of dermatophytes; in the parasitological field she is involved in the study of parasites of medical interest (malaria plasmodia, Toxoplasma gondii, intestinal protozoa, leishmania); in the virological she is involved in the study of pathogenic viruses for humans (virus with constant hepatic tropism, virus of the gastrointestinal apparatus, cytomegalovirus, respiratory virus, arbovirus). He is a member of the collaborative group of the World Health Organization (WHO) for the diagnosis of malaria and toxoplasmosis.
