I am Associate Professor of Medieval History of Philosophy at the University of Parma. My main research interests concern the history of ancient and medieval logic. I hold the Italian National Scientific Habilitation as Associate Professor in History of Philosophy (field 11/C5) and in Logic and Philosophy of Science (field 11/C2).

Since 2025, I have been coordinating the research team of the project “FICTA” (Fictional and Impossible Entities, Counterpossibles and Thought Experiments. A Study of Medieval Theories of Impossibility and Their Contemporary Relevance), funded by the ERC for five years of research.

In 2023 and 2024, I was PI of the project “Truth and Modalities within Medieval Logic. Towards a Traditional and Digitalized Edition of New Texts”, funded by the University of Parma.

From 2019 to 2023, I was a Marie Curie Fellow at the University of Parma and the University of Toronto. The project, awarded a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Global Fellowship, focused on the modal theories of the Oxford Calculatores, and was carried out in collaboration with Prof. Fabrizio Amerini (University of Parma) and Prof. Peter King (University of Toronto). More info on the project here: https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/845061/results

In 2018–2019, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Freiburg, and from January to December 2018 a visiting researcher at the University of Oxford. These research periods were funded through a DAAD PRIME Fellowship.

I received my PhD in 2017 from the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, with a dissertation on Peter Abelard’s modal logic and theory. During my doctoral studies, I was a visiting student at the University of Cambridge (January–June 2016) and at the University of Auckland (September–December 2016).

I graduated from the University of Parma in 2013 with a thesis on Aristotle’s modal logic.

Since 2023, together with some colleagues, I have been coordinating the national mentoring program of SWIP Italia, which supports the academic careers of PhD students and early-career female researchers (https://swip-italia.org/attivita/mentoring-swip-italia/).

Together with colleagues Wolfgang Huemer, Daniele Molinari, and Valentina Petrolini, I am co-founder of the research group PRISMA (Parma Research group on Imagination in the Sciences, the Mind and the Arts): https://www.prisma.unipr.it/

I am also a founding member of the philosophical association “Vita Activa” (http://apsvitaactiva.com/) and of the project “Idee in Bozza”.

I am co-founder of the Centre of Studies on Medieval Thought “Sic et Non”, which has a national scope and aims to promote research and dissemination on medieval philosophy: https://www.unive.it/pag/41479/

Besides medieval logic, I am passionate about classical music, hiking, the Apennines, and slow travel/tourism. Since 2017, I have been coordinator of the It.a.cà festival, dedicated to responsible tourism (editions: 2017, 2018). I am also a founding member of the association “Il Taccuino di Darwin”, engaged in projects on sustainability, interculturality, and active citizenship.

I see students by appointment or at the end of my classes; during the Autumn semester 2025, you can find me on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays from 12:30 pm.

Please email me to arrange an alternative day or time for an in-person or online meeting.

Philo-diffusione: itinerari filosofici per la città

Since 2024, I have been coordinating, on behalf of the Philosophy Unit of the University of Parma, the series “Philo-diffusione. Itinerari filosofici per la città” (philo-diffusione unipr), in collaboration with the Palatina Library, the Amici della Pilotta Association, and the Italian Philosophical Society, Parma section. The series offers high-level public lectures on topics in the history of philosophy and contemporary philosophy. Alongside these events, the program also includes activities for children from the age of five, organized by the Amici della Pilotta.
