Stefano has a Master degree in Environmental Engineering and Ph.D. in Sanitary Engineering. He has been adjunct professor at Politecnico di Milano of Environmental Sanitary Engineering, Environmental Monitoring Network, Environmental Pollution Phenomena, Mitigation of Climate Change. Stefano is the project manager of the research project Desarc-Maresanus (DEcreasing Seawater Acidification Removing Carbon) and and Co-Director of the scientific journal “Ingegneria dell’Ambiente” (Engineering of the Environment). Since June 2022 he is Councilor for the environment, mobility, climate action and innovation of the Municipality of Lodi.

Stefano is also involved in the dissemination of scientific knowledge on climate change, he has published six books (the last titled “Sex and the climate”) and is the founder and coordinator of Climalteranti.it, one of the main Italian blog on climate change.
