Laura Belli was born in Fiorenzuola d’Arda on April 14, 1984, and is currently a Fixed-term Researcher (RTD-A) at the University of Parma.
She received her Master’s degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Parma in 2011, with a Thesis entitled Design and Implementation of a User Profiling and Recommendation System for Mobile Applications.
In 2015, she obtained her Ph.D. at the Department of Information Engineering of the same university, with a dissertation entitled Efficient Data Management with Applications to IoT”.
Since January 2013, she has been a member of the Internet of Things Laboratory (IoTLab) at the Department of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Parma.

As of December 2025, Laura Belli has published more than 50 contributions in leading journals, international conferences, and book chapters, and she is a co-inventor of 2 patents. Her research interests include the Internet of Things, smart cities, Big Stream, and smart agriculture topics.

Within her research group, she has been involved in numerous projects funded by public and private bodies at both national and international levels. She is currently a member of the editorial boards of several international journals. She has been a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) since 2022, of the "Consorzio Nazionale Interuniversitario delle Telecomunicazioni" (CNIT) since 2017, and of the "Gruppo Telecomunicazioni e Tecnologie dell'Informazione" (GTTI) since 2021.
